The message from the daughter was telling and showing her mom that she was living with Rich. We assume that the mother did not like it that way due to her indifference and critical response. That is why we think that the message is well received.

C. Is the message well received? Why (not)?
Absolutely No. Datong Xu grew up in the China where was a high context culture country, like Japanese culture and Latin culture. The high context culture’s communicative information mainly depends on the occasion of the language exchanging. In other word, Chinese people usually don’t depend communicative language, instead of communicative context. However, American always literally rely on communicative language itself. Therefore, low context countries are short of imagination and logic. Due to the different background, Datong Xu thought that he had plenty conveyed what he wanted to express message, but in fact, the Judge didn’t realize the mean completely. This is the reason of why the message is not received well.

Noise (physical/psychological/physiological/semantic):
(Psychological:) The dad tried to cheat his daughter to answer “Dad” to any question he asked next, after she repeated that word many times. But the daughter seemed knowing what her dad want to do and then answered correctly to stop him from getting his way.
C. Is the message well received? Why (not)?
Yes. I believe the baby girl was smart enough to well understand what her dad tried to convey.
The message from the dad was leading his daughter to say that Dad is her favorite. Although the dad teached his daughter to say “Dad” many times, he didn’t receive the answer he wanted. I guess that the baby girl was just playing some trick on her own dad. That is why I think that the message might be well received.
